Today’s question: What is the most anticipated news item yet to arrive during this INDYCAR offseason?
Curt Cavin: For me, it’s FOX’s full vision for the series, and it begins with the start times of the races. For example, how do NTT INDYCAR SERIES races align with NASCAR races and other sporting events that must be considered competition, and what are the lead-in opportunities to draw outsiders in? Is there shoulder programming? What are the cross-promotion opportunities, including personalities to showcase at events (i.e. Michael Strahan driving the Pace Car at Indy)? Who comprises the broadcast team as someone becomes the new “TV voice” of the sport? All of those things will help shape the direction of the broadcast vision moving forward as the ecosystem capitalizes on having all races, plus Indy 500 qualifying, on network television.
Eric Smith: There are a few intriguing storylines lingering, but what I’m waiting to see is what the liveries are going to look like in 2025. Will Power gave everyone a peek at the new livery on his No. 12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet during the NFL on FOX pregame show on Nov. 24. I’m anxious to see what’s next. Andretti Global has changed its liveries each of the last few seasons, which has my curiosity running if all three change again. Arrow McLaren hasn’t run it back as far as liveries as far as I can remember. So, what color schemes will these machines use next season? I’m interested in finding out.
Paul Kelly: Is the height of Santino Ferrucci’s hair still an option? Seriously, Curt and Eric both made good picks. So, I’m still curious about who will fill the remaining seats on the grid. There is still a seat open at Juncos Hollinger Racing and Rahal Letterman Racing, and both seats remain vacant at Dale Coyne Racing. There are plenty of rumors circulating about who will get those rides, with some of the “usual suspects” among the names. It will be interesting to see if these seats go to series veterans or if any team takes a big swing on a newcomer, perhaps from another global series.
