INDY NXT by Firestone race winner Jamie Chadwick will participate in her first NTT INDYCAR SERIES test with Andretti Global on Monday, Sept. 30 at Barber Motorsports Park, team officials announced July 31.
Andretti Global driver Chadwick, 26, will be the first female INDY NXT race winner to receive an NTT INDYCAR SERIES test since Pippa Mann in 2011.
“I’m incredibly excited to be testing in INDYCAR for the first time with Andretti Global at Barber Motorsports Park later this year,” Chadwick said. “I want to say a huge thank you to the team for this opportunity. It is, for sure, one I am going to relish. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES remains my goal, so I cannot wait to learn as much as possible on that day at one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar.”
Chadwick moved to American open-wheel racing in 2023, joining the Andretti INDY NXT team as the first full-time female driver in the INDYCAR development series in 13 years and scoring five top-10 finishes in her rookie season. Chadwick’s 2024 sophomore season with Andretti INDY NXT has been one for the history books with a podium finish on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and a win from the pole at Road America, making her the first woman to earn a pole on a road or street course, the first woman to win an INDY NXT race on a road or street course and only the third woman to capture victory in series history.
British driver Chadwick is fifth in the INDY NXT by Firestone championship standings with four races remaining in the 2024 season. Andretti Global driver Louis Foster, also from Great Britain, leads the standings.
“It’s been a pleasure watching Jamie grow as a driver in our INDY NXT program,” Andretti Global CEO and Chairman Michael Andretti said. “The work she put in during the winter after her rookie season is obvious, and we’ve been impressed with the progress she’s made. The INDY NXT field is really competitive this year, and what Jamie has been able to do is a testament to the level of skill and potential she has.
“We believe in rewarding hard work and results and are excited to give her this opportunity. We’re all looking forward to seeing what she can do in September.”
Before joining the Andretti INDY NXT team in 2023, Chadwick won the W Series championship three times. She also set records for the most wins, podium finishes, poles and points in the all-female series.
Chadwick also was the youngest driver – and first female – to win a British GT Championship and BRDC British Formula 3 race. She additionally won the 2018-19 MRF Challenge championship.
