Nolan Siegel’s roller coaster 2024 season hit a new peak June 16, as the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone driver won the LMP2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Siegel teamed up with Bijoy Garg and Oliver Jarvis to win the world’s most prestigious sports car race June 15-16 at Circuit de la Sarthe in Le Mans, France. The victory came four weeks after Siegel failed to qualify for the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge with Dale Coyne Racing after crashing on his final qualifying attempt.
In between, Siegel was summoned at the last minute by Juncos Hollinger Racing to substitute for full-time driver Agustin Canapino in the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America presented by AMR NTT INDYCAR SERIES race on June 9.
Whew! What a month.
“Gonna take awhile for that to sink in,” Siegel wrote on X. “Thank you, Le Mans.”
Siegel has LMP2 experience in the Asian Le Mans Series and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, but this was his first start in the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic at Le Mans.
Veteran Jarvis earned his first Le Mans win since 2020 with a strong final stint in the No. 22 ORECA-Gibson after taking the wheel from Le Mans rookies Garg and Siegel. Jarvis ended up finishing 18.651 seconds ahead of the No. 34 Inter Europol entry.
Up next for Siegel is a return to his challenge for the INDY NXT by Firestone championship with HMD Motorsports. The Grand Prix of Monterey features a doubleheader June 22-23 for the INDYCAR development series at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Among the other NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers competing at Le Mans, two-time and reigning series champion Alex Palou was the top finisher among the INDYCAR contingent competing in the premier Hypercar class, finishing seventh overall in the No. 2 Cadillac Racing V-Series.R.
