Juncos Hollinger Racing co-owner Ricardo Juncos and NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Agustín Canapino have been recognized as “Distinguished Personalities in the Field of Sports” in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, the capital of their homeland.
This recognition is testament to the persistent effort that Juncos and Canapino have demonstrated throughout their careers in motorsport. Both have proudly raised the Argentine flag in the highest echelons of sports, inspiring future drivers and motivating generations of fans.
Juncos Hollinger Racing competes in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone, INDYCAR’s development series.
“It's an honor and a dream to be present in the legislature of my country's capital receiving this distinction,” Juncos said. “A lot of images come to mind; everything I've experienced at the racetrack, in the workshop and on these streets. Everything I do is with Argentina in mind, to showcase what we are capable of.”
Canapino, also known as “El Titán,” is one of Argentina's most outstanding and respected drivers. With numerous Argentine touring car championships and victories to his name, his driving skills are legendary in his native country. Canapino joined the NTT INDYCAR SERIES this season with almost no open-wheel racing experience but finished second among rookie drivers in the championship.
“In this city, I won my first TC (touring car) championship,” Canapino said. “Receiving the award that was once given to (Lionel) Messi is something that gives me goosebumps. Being in this hall, with this audience, is a way to thank not only the legislature but also everyone present: family, friends, fans, colleagues, journalists and everyone who feels represented.”
