NTT INDYCAR SERIES star Pato O’Ward will drive for the McLaren Formula 1 Team in the first practice of the season-ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Friday, Nov. 24.
Arrow McLaren driver O’Ward will have up to 60 minutes in the MCL60 car driven full time by Lando Norris during the first practice at the Yas Marina circuit. He also will drive for the McLaren F1 team in the postseason test at the same circuit.
This will be O’Ward’s second practice participation with McLaren at Abu Dhabi, as he turned 22 laps in Norris’ car during free practice for the race in 2022. Despite technical problems, he ended up 18th overall with a quick time of 1 minute, 28.35 seconds.
Mexican driver O’Ward is a member of the McLaren Racing official driver development program and has extensive experience in older McLaren F1 cars, driving the MCL35M model in multiple private tests.
O’Ward will race for Arrow McLaren in the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season with teammates Alexander Rossi and David Malukas.
