Portland International Raceway was a Team Penske playground in practice Saturday morning for the Grand Prix of Portland, as the team’s drivers swept the top three spots on the time sheet.
NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship leader Will Power was quickest with a best lap of 58.3946 seconds in the No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet, the best lap of the weekend so far on the 12-turn, 1.964-mile road course.

Two-time series champion Josef Newgarden, just three points behind Power in second, was second in practice at 58.4083 in the No. 2 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet. Scott McLaughlin, sixth in points and 54 behind Power, was third at 58.4910 in the No. 3 Freightliner Team Penske Chevrolet.
Colton Herta was fourth at 58.7201 in the No. 26 Gainbridge Honda, while Rookie of the Year points leader Christian Lundgaard rounded out the top five at 58.7463 in the No. 30 Mi-Jack Honda.
The top seven drivers in the 45-minute session produced quicker laps than the pole time of 58.7701 by Alex Palou last year.
NTT P1 Award qualifying is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. ET this afternoon, with a 30-minute final practice at 7:15 p.m. ET concluding a hectic Saturday. Qualifying and final practice will be broadcast live on Peacock Premium and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
