'Brilliant.' Fans and drivers are swooning for 'Born Racer'
OCT 03, 2018
Of course there were nerves.
The Dixon family had contemplated a project like “Born Racer” for years before they were comfortable letting the cameras in. The movie, which was released in the United States on Tuesday, promises an intimate look at what it takes to be a race car driver. Or, in the case of Emma Davies Dixon, what it takes to watch as a spouse puts their life on the line week after week.
Showing that kind of emotion to the world isn't easy.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous how people will react to the documentary,” Davies Dixon wrote on Instagram. “Excited for (our children) Poppy and Tilly to one day show their little ones, a sneak peek into Grandad’s passion/obsession/job. I adore my little family.”
Luckily for the Dixon family, reception so far has been nothing but positive. Scott Dixon's former teammate, Dario Franchitti, said the documentary was "brilliant."
Well that was brilliant!!

Congratulations to all involved on doing such a great job showing what makes Scott Scott, what families of Indycar drivers go through and what teams deal with week in, week out.
Do yourself a favour, watch it as soon as you can. pic.twitter.com/cOEd0X4av2
Watched it last night and "brilliant" is a good description. Amazing what sacrifices parents will make for their children too.

Watched @scottdixon9 @bornracermovie last night. Awesome film! Great insight to the life of a pro driver. Also shoutout to all the girlfriends, wives and families of us because they are warriors just like us behind the wheel, film does a great job showing their sacrifices for us!

There are many fast drivers out there and some of them can do unbelievable things on a good day. But then there are drivers like Scott, who always do the right thing, even if they have a bad day. I think that makes the difference.@scottdixon9 @IndyCar @bornracermovie #INDYCAR https://t.co/Qj4hT07A8T

Watched it last night, it was awesome. Question after the wreck @IMS did it change the focus of the documentary? I remember being in turn 4 and the track being silent until Scott moved and got out of his car.

Well done, @bornracermovie ... especially enjoyed peeking behind the curtain to the Ganassi machine and @EmmaDaviesDixon thoughts about her husband’s drive for success. Also was touched by innocence of Tilly and Poppy, who know the legendary Iceman @scottdixon9 only as “daddy.”

For fans that want to see what happens ‘behind the scenes’, I strongly encourage getting @bornracermovie. It shows the ups and downs of a race season. It also shows the dedication and skill of @scottdixon9. Scott reminds me of @JimmieJohnson but with a little different accent! https://t.co/ubnlmbLFhy

Just finished screening of #BornRacerMovie. @scottdixon9 is an incredible vessel to tell the story of #IndyCar but that’s exactly what this movie was. It’s the story of the thrilling, heartbreaking, terrifying, jubilant roller coaster teams & families go through every year.
