NTT INDYCAR SERIES rookie Kyffin Simpson confirmed May 29 his entry in the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans with British-based Nielsen Racing, driving the No. 24 ORECA 07-Gibson in the LMP2 class.
Simpson, 19, drives full time this season for Chip Ganassi Racing. He just finished 21st in the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, as the last driver on the lead lap. Simpson also led three laps in his first “500” start.
A resident of Grand Cayman, reigning European Le Mans Series champion Simpson joins Fabio Scherer and David Heinemeier Hansson on June 15-16 for the historic 92nd running of the world’s most famous endurance racing event at Le Mans, France.
“I’m excited to join Nielsen Racing for my 24 Hours of Le Mans debut,” Simpson said. “I enjoyed getting back into an LMP2 for Daytona, so it’s great to be racing with a successful team to go for a class win at Le Mans. Work begins immediately with some simulator time this week. I can’t wait to join Fabio and David at the track.”
This will be the second endurance racing classic of the season for Simpson. He was a member of the DragonSpeed team that finished seventh in the LMP2 class at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January.
