ESPN ON ABC
2010 IZOD IndyCar Series

ABC will televise the Indianapolis 500 for the 46th consecutive year in 2010, extending the second-longest active relationship between a sporting event and a television network.

In addition, four other races in the IZOD IndyCar Series will be produced by ESPN on ABC, continuing coverage that has existed since the formation of the IndyCar Series in 1996. The four events for 2010 are St. Petersburg, Kansas, Watkins Glen and Toronto.

ABC televised the 2007 Indianapolis 500 in high definition, a first for the historic event, and all IndyCar Series race telecasts were elevated to high definition in 2008.

All telecasts on ABC in 2010 will continue to be enhanced with technology from Sportvision, Inc., the nation’s premier innovator of sports and entertainment products for fans, media companies and marketers. Data boxes in the race cars are used to track real-time telemetry, miles per hour and other data, helping viewers to better experience the extreme speed of IZOD IndyCar Series competition. The Sportvision pointers can also be used to help viewers identify cars when they are racing in a tight pack, as often occurs in IZOD IndyCar Series racing.

The popular “Side-by-Side” feature, used in IZOD IndyCar Series telecasts on ABC for the past five seasons, also will continue in 2010. During commercial breaks, a split screen format showing the advertisement on one side and racing action on the other allows viewers to not miss anything that might happen on the track during the break. Additional telemetry data will be available on the series’ official Website www.indycar.com.

Veteran lap-by-lap announcer Marty Reid returns for his fifth season in the ESPN on ABC booth for the IZOD IndyCar Series, with expert analysis by former driver Scott Goodyear in his ninth season. For the Indianapolis 500 telecast, Reid and Goodyear will again be joined in the booth by Eddie Cheever, the 1998 winner of the race, for analysis. Brent Musburger will host the telecast.

Jamie Little, Vince Welch and Rick DeBruhl will serve as pit reporters. Jerry Punch will join the pit lineup for the Indianapolis 500.

ESPN senior motorsports producer Neil Goldberg will produce the Indianapolis 500 telecast, as well as the St. Petersburg and Kansas telecasts. ESPN producer James Shiftan will produce the Watkins Glen and Toronto telecasts. Bruce Watson will be ESPN’s director for all five races.

The IZOD IndyCar Series continues its long-time association with ESPN International for worldwide (excluding the United States and Brazil) distribution of IndyCar Series broadcast rights through 2010, with a two-year option for both parties beginning in 2011.

In addition, ESPN International has the exclusive right to distribute live, delayed and highlight programs via all forms of broadcast media, broadband, webcast and mobile for all IZOD IndyCar Series events, including the Indianapolis 500.
