The Indy Family Foundation, which seeks to aid those in the motorsports community who find themselves in financial need because of hardship caused by illness, injury or death of a loved one, is a beneficiary of one the many star-studded events held in conjunction with the Super Bowl in Indianapolis.

The Third Annual Stars and Strikes Celebrity Bowling Bash will be held Feb. 2 at Western Bowl in Indianapolis. The event is held in conjunction with the  NFL Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Stadium, bringing fans together with IZOD IndyCar Series drivers, NFL players and other celebrities to watch and/or bowl.

“The Indy Family Foundation is honored to be the beneficiary for the Stars and Strikes Celebrity Bowling Bash,” said IFF President Heather Carpenter. “With the funds raised from this event, we will be able to continue to serve the racing community, as well as establish a new educational trust for INDYCAR children affected by the loss of a parent. I encourage everyone to attend Stars and Strikes. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in a Super Bowl-week event and help others at the same time.”

Among the INDYCAR personalities expected to attend are Ed Carpenter, Graham Rahal, James Hinchcliffe, Katherine Legge, Alex Lloyd, Josef Newgarden, Pippa Mann, Martin Plowman, Bryan Clauson, Sarah Fisher, Zach Veach and Shannon McIntosh.

“It’s a chance to mingle with the celebrities from the NFL and motorsports while supporting a good cause, The Indy Family Foundation,” Ed Carpenter said. “If you want to come to watch, participate or even be a sponsor, it’s for the foundation. “

Nashville recording artist Michelle Murray will serve as the event host and will perform throughout the festivities. Former Indianapolis Colts player and local radio personality Joe Stasniak will be the evening’s master of ceremonies. The list of NFL players and other celebrities expected to attend will be released Monday, Jan. 30.

“One thing the foundation wants to do is start an educational trust for children who may lose a family member through racing,” Ed Carpenter said. “With what happened with Dan Wheldon in Las Vegas, this is a little top of mind. This is about what can we do make things better if and when this happens again, there’s a way for the racing community to show its support.”
