Joint INDY NXT by Firestone championship leader Nolan Siegel led the opening practice for the Indianapolis Grand Prix on Friday on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Siegel was quickest at 1 minute, 14.9481 seconds in the No. 39 HMD Motorsports car on the 14-turn, 2.439-mile road course. Louis Foster was a close second at 1:14.9812 in the No. 26 Copart/Novara Technologies car fielded by Andretti Global.

Two series rookies occupied the next two spots on the speed chart. Bryce Aron was third at 1:15.2107 in the No. 27 Jaguar Land Rover Chesterfield entry of Andretti Global, while Caio Collet was fourth at 1:15.2799 in the No. 18 HMD Motorsports car.
Jacob Abel, tied with Siegel atop the series standings with 95 points, rounded out the top five at 1:15.3210 in the No. 51 Abel Construction car fielded by Abel Motorsports. Abel earned his first career series victory at the last event, April 28 at Barber Motorsports Park.
