Josef Newgarden

LEXINGTON, Ohio -- Josef Newgarden led the 24-driver field in the morning practice before the three rounds of qualifications for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

Newgarden, driving the No. 67 Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing car, recorded a best lap of 1 minute, 06.6536 seconds on the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course that was still drying from overnight rain and a brief morning shower. He logged 12 laps.

“The kid really has it together," team co-owner Sarah Fisher said. "We made some changes overnight and reacted really well to a green track. He’s getting everything out of it he can. It was nice to see that. We’re just looking forward to qualifying and go through the day.”
