NTT INDYCAR SERIES race winner Rinus VeeKay has signed to drive for Dale Coyne Racing (DCR) for the entire season, team officials announced Feb. 14, completing the full-time grid for the series in 2025.
Dutchman VeeKay, who won the Sonsio Grand Prix in 2021 on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, will drive DCR’s No. 18 Honda.
“Very exciting news,” VeeKay said. “I am happy to announce my partnership with Dale Coyne Racing for the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. It makes me proud to see my name among the drivers competing in this fantastic series for a sixth consecutive year. After a difficult start to my offseason, I am delighted to end the winter with this news.”
After a year in which multiple drivers raced in the two DCR entries, the team has two full-time drivers for 2025. VeeKay joins rookie and INDY NXT by Firestone graduate Jacob Abel in the lineup.
“We are excited about getting back to full-time drivers for 2025,” team owner Dale Coyne said. “The stability allows us to grow as a team, and that’s important to me. For that to be accomplished, having a proven veteran in one of our entries helps tremendously, and that’s one of the many reasons we have decided to go with VeeKay to complete the 2025 grid. We are excited for him to join the team and get started with us at the Sebring test coming up next week in preparation for the full NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.”
VeeKay is a graduate of the junior open-wheel series programs in North America. He won the USF Pro 2000 championship in 2018 and was runner-up in the INDY NXT by Firestone standings in 2019, both with Juncos Racing.
He made his NTT INDYCAR SERIES debut in 2020 with Ed Carpenter Racing, for which he drove through last season. He earned NTT INDYCAR SERIES Rookie of the Year honors in 2020 and broke through with his sole victory to date in the series with a masterful drive in May 2021 on the IMS road course.
VeeKay has nine career top-five finishes and has won two poles. His performance in Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge qualifying also is exemplary, as he has produced three front-row spots in his five starts.
While he tested impressively with Coyne last fall in the IMS oval test, VeeKay will make his official debut Feb. 17-18 during the group test at Sebring (Florida) International Raceway.
The 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season starts Sunday, March 2 with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida (noon ET, FOX, FOX Deportes, INDYCAR Radio Network).
