Katherine Legge will return to Dale Coyne Racing with RWR for the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend doubleheader July 13-14 at Iowa Speedway.

Legge will drive the No. 51 Honda for DCR on the .894-mile oval at Newton, Iowa.

The Hy-Vee Homefront 250 presented by Instacart starts at 8 p.m. ET Saturday, July 13, with the Hy-Vee OneStep 250 presented by Gatorade getting underway at noon ET Sunday, July 14. NBC, Peacock and the INDYCAR Radio Network will provide live coverage of both races.

“I’m thrilled to be behind the wheel of an INDYCAR SERIES car at the Iowa doubleheader this weekend,” Legge said. “We had a successful test there last week, and I’m really looking forward to seeing how the races unfold on the new surface. I’m grateful to Dale Coyne and Honda and so happy to be back in the 51.”

Legge qualified 29th and finished 31st in the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge for DCR in May, with the support of e.l.f. Cosmetics as the first beauty brand to serve as a primary sponsor in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” It was her fourth career “500” start.

“We’re looking forward to having Katherine back in the car with us at Iowa this weekend,” team owner Dale Coyne said. “She did a good job for us at Indy, and we had a strong test at Iowa Speedway last week with both Katherine and Jack (Harvey). We’re excited to see what the doubleheader weekend in Iowa brings.”

Since May in Indianapolis, Legge burnished her diverse driving credentials by placing fifth in class in the 102nd running of The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb as a rookie in the Acura Integra Type S DE5, reaching the 14,115-foot summit in 10 minutes, 51.359 seconds – just three seconds off the front-wheel-drive record. Legge also has been a longtime Honda/Acura competitor in IMSA sports car racing.

English native Legge is the only woman competing this season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Formula One or NASCAR Cup Series.

In 2005, she became the first woman to win a race in the Atlantic Championship development series. She competed in the INDYCAR SERIES in 2006, 2007 and 2012, becoming in 2012 just the ninth woman to qualify for the Indianapolis 500.

Legge became the fastest female driver in Indianapolis 500 history in 2023 with her top qualifying lap (231.627 mph) and four-lap (231.070 mph) average qualification speeds.
