Former Formula 2 driver Luca Ghiotto will be back behind the wheel of the No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing Honda for the next two NTT INDYCAR SERIES rounds, the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America presented by AMR on June 9 and the Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey on June 23 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
Italian Ghiotto made his series debut with DCR in April at Barber Motorsports Park in April returned to the cockpit in May on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. With no NTT INDYCAR SERIES before his first race, Ghiotto finished 21st in his debut at Barber. He followed that by finishing 25th on the IMS road course.
“I’m very happy to be returning behind the wheel of the No. 51 Dale Coyne Racing entry for the next two races,” Ghiotto said. “I enjoyed my first two races in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and had a great time working with Jack (Harvey) and everyone at DCR. I look forward to working with them again and help the team continue to make progress over the next two races.”
Ghiotto has seven career victories in F2, the last ladder series before Formula One. In his five full-time seasons in the series, he finished as high as third in the FIA Formula 2 Championship standings. He recently served as test and simulator driver for the Nissan Formula E team in 2022-23.
“Luca made a good impression on us in his first races with the team,” DCR owner Dale Coyne said. “He got up to speed quickly with no testing whatsoever before getting in the car, and he was a good addition to the team. We look forward to working with him again and having him back behind the wheel of our No. 51 car for the next two races.”
Live coverage of the XPEL Grand Prix at Road America presented by AMR starts at 3:30 p.m. ET Sunday, June 9 on NBC, Peacock and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
