NTT INDYCAR SERIES standout Santino Ferrucci will drive for Abacus Racing in the 2025 Chili Bowl Nationals midget car race Jan. 13-18 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A.J. Foyt Enterprises driver Ferrucci also will compete with Abacus this year in USAC National Midget Series races Nov. 22-23 at Merced (California) Speedway. Ferrucci, who finished a career-best ninth in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES standings in 2024, will drive the No. 16 midget with primary sponsorship from Webco Engineering.
“I love racing and all forms of it,” Connecticut native Ferrucci said. “The Chili Bowl is one of those events that I love to compete in. It is a big event with a big event feel, so you just feel you are part of something from the second you arrive at the Expo Center.”
Ferrucci first competed in the Chili Bowl, one of the most prestigious dirt track races in America, in 2021. His boss, legendary four-time Indianapolis 500 winner A.J. Foyt, began his driving career in midgets in the early 1950s and won 20 midget features.
“A.J. was so good at everything he drove and was a champion on pavement and dirt,” Ferrucci said. “Driving on dirt is something I definitely want to get better on.”
Abacus Racing is headquartered in Indianapolis and became just the second entrant in USAC history to win the USAC Triple Crown when it won the USAC Sprint Car Championship with Logan Seavey in October. That kind of success that made it easy for Ferrucci to drive for Abacus.
“It is no secret that my love of racing and my roots in racing came from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway,” Abacus Racing Team Principal Brent Cox said. “So, to have Santino drive for us is something very special for us as a team.”
The feature event at the Chili Bowl takes place Saturday night, Jan. 18. All nights of the Chili Bowl, including preliminaries and heat races, and all the USAC races will be broadcast on the FloRacing streaming service.
