Alexander Rossi

Arrow McLaren drivers Pato O’Ward and Alexander Rossi and Andretti Global teammates Colton Herta and Marcus Ericsson keep climbing the Power Rankings and are gaining ground on NTT INDYCAR SERIES points leader Alex Palou for the top spot.

Palou maintains the lead following a runner-up finish in The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Presented by the 2025 Civic Hybrid on July 7. However, the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend on July 13-14 at Iowa Speedway sparks a stretch of six oval events in eight races to finish the season. How long can two-time and defending series champion Palou, who is 0-for-21 on ovals in his career, maintain that advantage?

10. Santino Ferrucci (No. 14 AJ FOYT RACING/SEXTON PROPERTIES Chevrolet; Last Rank: NR)

AJ Foyt Racing had six top-10 finishes in its last 51 races entering the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. Sunday’s 10th-place finish at Mid-Ohio was Ferrucci’s sixth top-10 finish in nine races this season.

9. Scott Dixon (No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda; Last Rank: 5)

Dixon is fading following a 27th-place finish at Mid-Ohio. Thanks to being one of three drivers with multiple victories this season and Dixon having four top-six finishes in the last six races, he hangs onto a Power Rankings spot.

8. Will Power (No. 12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet; Last Rank: 4)

Power drops for a second consecutive race following a rough weekend at Mid-Ohio. The Team Penske driver battled a sickness that relegated him to an 11th-place finish. After an average finish of third through the first four races of the season, that’s dropped to 9.8 over the last five.

7. Marcus Ericsson (No. 28 Delaware Life Honda; Last Rank: 10)

Ericsson continued his ascension, gaining another spot in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES standings following a fifth-place finish at Mid-Ohio. The Andretti Global driver gained seven spots in points from 19th entering June to 12th heading into the Iowa Speedway doubleheader. He finished second, ninth, 10th and fifth, respectively, in this stretch, with an average finish of 6.5. By comparison, Ericsson had an average finish of 19th in the five previous races.

6. Scott McLaughlin (No. 3 Sonsio Team Penske Chevrolet; Last Rank: 8)

McLaughlin earned his second third-place finish in three races in Sunday’s 80-lap race at Mid-Ohio. With three top-six finishes in the last five races, McLaughlin gains two spots in Power Rankings.

5. Kyle Kirkwood (No. 27 AutoNation Honda; Last Rank: 2)

Kirkwood climbed from seventh to second in the Power Rankings but drops to fifth following an eighth-place finish at Mid-Ohio. Kirkwood gained five spots in the race after starting 13th, which is why he didn’t drop too far.

↑4. Alexander Rossi (No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet: Last Rank: 6)

Rossi scored his first top-three finish in the last 21 NTT INDYCAR SERIES events with a third-place finish June 23 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. At Mid-Ohio, Rossi finished a respectable sixth, scoring his fourth top-six finish in his last five starts this season.

3. Pato O’Ward (No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet; Last Rank: 7)

O’Ward crossed the finish line for a win for the first time since 2022 at Iowa Speedway. He was handed the season-opening victory on the streets of St. Petersburg in wake of the Team Penske penalties for illegal use of Push to Pass. O’Ward is rising, with five consecutive top-10 finishes this season, including a runner-up finish in the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge and a victory in at Mid-Ohio. O’Ward improved from an average finishing spot of 13.25 through the first four races to 5.2 over the last five. That has catapulted him to third (70 points behind leader Palou) in the championship standings.

↑2. Colton Herta (No. 26 Gainbridge Honda; Last Rank: 3)

Herta gains another spot after being unranked entering Road America. He has three consecutive top-six finishes entering the Iowa Speedway doubleheader.

↔1. Alex Palou (No. 10 Ridgeline Lubricants Chip Ganassi Racing Honda; Last Rank: 1)

Palou has eight top-five finishes in nine races this season. Over his last 28 starts, including the non-points The Thermal Club $1 Million Challenge, Palou has 27 top-eight results. The only exception was 16th June 2 at Detroit.
