NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers Kyle Kirkwood and Sting Ray Robb pitched – literally – the return of the series to the Milwaukee Mile.
Both drivers threw a simultaneous ceremonial first pitch before the division-leading Milwaukee Brewers’ home game June 11 against the Toronto Blue Jays. Andretti Global driver Kirkwood and AJ Foyt Racing driver Robb were presented by customized Brewers’ jerseys with their names and car numbers on the back before the start of the game at American Family Field, located just minutes from the historic Milwaukee Mile at Wisconsin State Fair Park.
“Getting to be a part of the Milwaukee Brewers’ experience in anticipation of the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s was great,” Robb said. “I grew up watching Major League Baseball games, never expecting I’d get to stand on a field, let alone throw out the first pitch. Thank you to the Brewers for the warm welcome, and I can’t wait to come back to experience more of Milwaukee.”
The first pitch was just part of the fun for the duo at the game. They participated in activities with fans and went head-to-head in a “Think Fast” game in which each driver tried to name as many NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers as possible in 20 seconds. Kirkwood named 13, and his victory earned tickets to the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s doubleheader on Labor Day weekend.
To cap the evening, Robb got to wave the checkered flag on the field for the famous “sausage race” -- a tradition during Brewers’ home games.
Both drivers were in in Milwaukee on June 11 to participate in an NTT INDYCAR SERIES Open Test, including the new hybrid unit, at the Milwaukee Mile.
Tickets are available here for the Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.
