Barber Motorsports Park continues to be a playground for two-time and reigning NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou, as he led the morning warmup Sunday for the Children’s of Alabama Indy Grand Prix powered by AmFirst.
Palou, who is starting 10th in the race this afternoon, was quickest with a lap of 1 minute, 6.3195 seconds in the No. 10 Ridgeline Lubricants Honda. Palou earned his first NTT INDYCAR SERIES victory in 2021 on this 17-turn, 2.3-mile natural road course, finished second in 2022 and fifth last year.

Felix Rosenqvist ended up second in the 30-minute session at 1:06.8069 – a significant .4874 of a second behind Palou – in the No. 60 AutoNation/SiriusXM Honda of Meyer Shank Racing. Rosenqvist will start fifth.
Two-time series champion Josef Newgarden was third at 1:06.8787 in the No. 2 PPG Team Penske Chevrolet, while Kyle Kirkwood ended up fourth at 1:06.8966 in the No. 27 AutoNation Honda fielded by Andretti Global.
Six-time series champion and last Sunday’s Long Beach winner Scott Dixon rounded out the top five at 1:06.9488 in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
NTT P1 Award winner Scott McLaughlin was sixth at 1:07.0182 in the No. 3 Good Ranchers Team Penske Chevrolet. His teammate and fellow front-row qualifier Will Power worked through nausea and apparent mechanical problems in the warmup to end up 13th at 1:07.3822 in the No 12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet.
