Arrow McLaren driver David Malukas will undergo surgery Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 13 to repair a fracture in his hand suffered while mountain biking last weekend.
His status for the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding on March 8-10 remains unknown until his recovery period is determined after surgery, a team spokesperson said.
NTT INDYCAR SERIES veteran Zach Veach is the Arrow McLaren reserve driver, but it remains uncertain whether he or another driver will be called to substitute for Malukas on the St. Petersburg race weekend or two tests later this month.
Malukas is entering his third season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES but his first with Arrow McLaren after moving to the team following his first two seasons with Dale Coyne Racing with HMD. He produced a podium finish in each of his first two seasons after graduating from INDY NXT by Firestone, both at World Wide Technology Raceway, placing second in 2022 and third last season.
