Joins Dixon, Bourdais in Team with INDYCAR SERIES Championship Pedigree
Chip Ganassi Racing announced Jan. 10 that reigning NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou will return to race at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in the No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R.
Palou will round out a familiar four-man team consisting of four-time INDYCAR SERIES champion Sebastien Bourdais, six-time INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon and Renger van der Zande, who raced together as a group previously in the No. 01 Cadillac in the 2022 Rolex 24.
The Rolex 24 takes place Jan. 27-28 on the 12-turn, 3.56-mile road course at Daytona International Speedway that includes part of the high-banked oval. It’s the first race of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season.
“I'm very excited to return to Daytona after competing with the team in the DPi era in 2022,” Palou said. “I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the new Hybrid, and it will be a great way to start the year early with such a great team and with such great teammates.
“I've had the privilege of racing with Scott, Sebastien and Renger, and I'm sure with all the preparation and knowledge that the team has, we'll be able to fight for a win and maybe bring home some new watches at the end of January.”
Palou showed speed during his sole prior Rolex 24 start, in 2022. He recorded the fastest lap in the field, 1 minute, 33.724 seconds, 136.742 mph.
Preparation for the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic will reach top gear Jan. 19-21 during the annual Roar Before The Rolex 24, which will include testing and qualifying for the race.
