NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Stefan Wilson is beginning his recovery after successful surgery on his fractured vertebrae Wednesday night, May 24 at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, according to Dreyer & Reinbold/Cusick Motorsports.
Wilson suffered a fractured 12th thoracic vertebrae May 22 in a two-car crash during practice for the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. Doctors performed a T10-T12 posterior fusion and internal fixation of the fracture during the surgery.
British driver Wilson is in good spirits, according to a team news release.
Graham Rahal is replacing fellow Indianapolis 500 veteran Wilson in the No. 24 DRR Cusick CareKeepers Chevrolet in “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” on Sunday. Rahal will start 33rd.
