NTT INDYCAR SERIES veteran Oliver Askew will substitute for Felix Rosenqvist as the driver of the No. 7 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet in Race 2 of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit on Sunday at Belle Isle Park in Detroit.
Rosenqvist is being held overnight at DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital after an accident in Race 1 Saturday. He is being observed overnight prior to discharge, after being sent to the hospital for advanced imaging and evaluation by the trauma and neurological teams. Evaluation revealed no life- or limb-threatening injuries, and he is awake and alert.
Askew, 24, a Florida native, made 12 starts for Arrow McLaren SP as an NTT INDYCAR SERIES rookie in 2020, including a career-high finish of third at Race One of the Iowa 300. He will join Pato O’Ward, who finished third in Race 1 in Detroit.
Live coverage of Race 2 starts at noon (ET) Sunday on NBC and the INDYCAR Radio Network. Qualifying for the 70-lap race starts at 9 a.m. and will be broadcast on NBCSN, Peacock and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
Updates on Rosenqvist’s recovery and his status for the REV Group Grand Prix on Sunday, June 20 at Road America will be provided when available.
