SiriusXM, the leading audio entertainment company in the United States, has been focused on its mission to entertain and inform listeners across the country during the COVID-19 pandemic by offering ramped-up coverage and streaming services for free while people practice safe and healthy behaviors from home.
Working in conjunction with NYU Langone Health, SiriusXM provides listeners with important information and updates on COVID-19 from leading experts on Doctor Radio (channel 110), and created a special “free to air” public service channel called Coronavirus: What You Need To Know (channel 121) at the outset of the pandemic that featured nonstop information and health tips related to coronavirus.
From the end of March through the end of May, SiriusXM has been offering free access to its full lineup of Premier Streaming content to listeners in North America, with no credit card or commitment required. “We hope it's a valuable source of information or diversion, a generous mix of fresh live content, and a source of companionship that comes from the hosts on our many shows and channels,” said SiriusXM CEO Jim Meyer when the free streaming period was announced. With the SiriusXM app and on their smart speakers, listeners can tune in to over 300 channels of news, information, entertainment, escape and companionship across ad-free music channels, plus channels of live news, comedy, sports talk, Howard Stern and much more from the comfort of their home.
The Official Satellite Radio Partner of INDYCAR also has a large sports radio presence. As most sports leagues across the United States went on hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic, including the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, SiriusXM has kept listeners and fans entertained and connected to their favorite sports with their many sports channels.
SiriusXM has continued to air “Brick by Brick” every Wednesday with former NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers Tony Kanaan and AJ Allmendinger alongside motorsports broadcaster Jack Arute on Dan Patrick Radio Channel 211. A new episode of “Brick by Brick” airs at 6 p.m. (ET) May 27. SiriusXM is also airing classic Indy races every Wednesday night for fans looking for open-wheel content and the sound of roaring engines while at home. To relive the greatest INDYCAR races visit siriusxm.us/INDYCAR. Once IndyCar season resumes, SiriusXM will offer turn-by-turn broadcasts of every race live from the track.
For additional content, SiriusXM created #StayHome Radio Channel 179 for listeners that offers a feel-good, ad-free music experience and features happy and uplifting songs from artists like Lizzo, Coldplay, P!nk and Bob Marley. And SiriusXM has been producing many virtual events for its listeners that bring together stars from the worlds of music, entertainment and sports.
