An incredible lineup of Big Machine Label Group artists is uniting for a moving rendition of the national anthem during the NBC broadcast of “Indy 500 Special: Back Home Again” at 2 p.m. (ET) Sunday, May 24.
Superstars Sheryl Crow, Florida Georgia Line, Lady Antebellum, Thomas Rhett, Brantley Gilbert and Justin Moore join voices with chart-topping acts Brett Young, Carly Pearce and Mike Eli of the Eli Young Band; plus Danielle Bradbery, Abbey Cone, Heath Sanders, Noah Schnacky, Avenue Beat, Dan Smalley and Payton Smith. Adhering to social distancing guidelines, each separately recorded their part of “The Star-Spangled Banner” with Julian Raymond and BMLG President/CEO Scott Borchetta co-producing the complete clip.
NBC’s Mike Tirico will narrate the program, which chronicles the 2019 race featuring an epic duel between Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi and incorporates traditional pre-race moments such as this unique performance of the national anthem, two physicians from the Mayo Clinic performing “God Bless America” and other patriotic tributes to America’s military and frontline workers across the country in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Nashville-based independent powerhouse label has a long-standing relationship with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, most notably its title sponsorship of the Big Machine Vodka 400 at the Brickyard and production of FGL Fest, a one-day Florida Georgia Line-helmed concert event inside the track.
For more than 100 years, the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge has taken place over Memorial Day weekend. This year’s race was originally scheduled for Sunday, May 24 but was rescheduled for Sunday, Aug. 23 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
