Fast Six: What's trending in INDYCAR
JAN 03, 2019
INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.
This week, we welcome in 2019. Many in the INDYCAR community found unique ways to ring in the new year.
And the award goes to …
Scott Dixon received an early gift in 2019, commemorating his fifth IndyCar Series championship earned last year. The Chip Ganassi Racing superstar was named Driver of the Year by Autoweek in its annual awards relating to all of automobile culture.
We couldn’t have picked a more deserving recipient ourselves.
Congratulations to Driver of the Year—@ScottDixon9. Last season, Dixon won his fifth IndyCar Championship, further cementing himself as one of the sport’s greatest drivers. #carculture #AutoweekAwards @IndyCar @CGRTeams @HondaRacing_HPD @PNCBank pic.twitter.com/YDnrgIlK6Q

Pyro-Rossi-technics
Alexander Rossi was actually in Colorado on New Year’s Eve but he posted this muted celebration video from when he was in Baja, Mexico, for the iconic off-road race in November. The Andretti Autosport driver is looking to make more fireworks in 2019.

Is there a fresh Chevy I can borrow?
Simon Pagenaud returned home to France for the holidays and a little skiing action. Even then, the Team Penske driver was thinking of ways to make the downhill run a little more exhilarating.

Movie night gone awry
Josef Newgarden spent the new year with Robert Wickens, watching the Netflix film “Bird Box.” Seems they had some trouble following the plot, though.

Back to the future, Andretti-style
Racing legend Mario Andretti gathered his children – Michael, Barbie and Jeff – for a 1950s-themed welcome to the new year. It’s a #familyphoto that undoubtedly has Dee Ann Andretti smiling from above.
Happy New Year from me and my 3 kids @michaelandretti @JeffAndretti @barbieandretti (Barbie is rocking the 50s theme better than me, Mike and Jeff) If there's a hole in the floor of heaven, hope mom Dee Ann is smiling at us. #familyphoto pic.twitter.com/eNBopij3Xy

No looking back
Jack Harvey had an enjoyable 2018, competing in six IndyCar Series races for Meyer Shank Racing with Schmidt Peterson. But, as his tweet showed, the Brit is already focused on the task ahead in 2019.
