James Hinchcliffe and the girl he took to prom are tying the knot. The announcement tweet had fans and other drivers feeling all gushy Monday afternoon.

Hinchcliffe and actress Becky Dalton who was HInchcliffe's last-minute prom date in their native Canada in 2004, reconnected after Hinchcliffe’s life-threatening crash during Indianapolis 500 practice in 2015. They started dating in 2016 and took the next step with announcement of their engagement.

Now, as Dalton joked, she’s got a life sentence.

Fans were excited to see the two finally get engaged.

It wasn’t all support, though. Fellow Verizon IndyCar Series driver Conor Daly – who once was a rent-free resident and self-proclaimed “pool boy” at Hinchcliffe’s Indianapolis home – was a little miffed he’s becoming a permanent third wheel.

Hinchcliffe, the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver who finished second on Season 23 of “Dancing with the Stars” is an INDYCAR fan favorite. He and Dalton have been posting perfect snippets of their picture-perfect relationship for a long time, so it’s only natural to get a little jealous.
