INDYCAR Fast Six: What's Trending in @INDYCAR
JUN 13, 2018
INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.
It helps to be prepared
With a rare weekend off for the Harding Racing group, driver Gabby Chaves decided to try his hand at being a fueler. It didn’t go horribly, but maybe Gabby should stick to driving the No. 88 Harding Group Chevrolet.
A break in the @indycar schedule gives our over-the-walls guys an opportunity to practice pit stops. One of our guys who happens to drive the #88 decided to practice too...maybe he should stick to driving? #GoGabbyGo // #IndyCar // #NotTooBadGabby // #ButStickToYourDayJob pic.twitter.com/laJuhx1edN

Chaves also tried changing a tire. Which was better, do you think? Tell us in the comments.
More pit stop practice for @GabbyChaves...another reason why he should just stick to driving the car?

Thanks, boss
St. Louis businessman John Bommarito, whose auto conglomerate sponsors the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park, recently announced that he would close all his stores to allow employees to attend the race on Aug. 25. Best boss ever!
Wow! @JohnBommarito announces that all @BommaritoAuto stores will close at 3 p.m. on 8/25/18 so that ALL employees can attend the @IndyCar #Bommarito500 @GatewayMSP ! He’s committed to racing! pic.twitter.com/C2kItkr6O5

Blast from the past
Mike Maurini, who serves as Marco Andretti’s eyes in the sky as his spotter at Verizon IndyCar Series races, dug up this gem of a photo featuring a young Andretti, James Hinchcliffe and Graham Rahal. Who can guess the year this photo was taken? Take a shot in the comments section below.
Way back to when I was working for @Hinchtown in karting at the World Karting Association Manufacturers Cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hanging with a young @GrahamRahal with @MarcoAndretti chillin' in the background pic.twitter.com/IyIgKQi1gm

‘Mayor’ takes platform worldwide to donate blood
Thursday is World Blood Donor Day. Verizon IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe will appear live on “Megyn Kelly TODAY” (@MegynTODAY) in the 9 a.m. hour on Thursday, encouraging everyone who can to donate. The initiative is close to Hinchcliffe’s heart – pun intended – since the “Mayor of Hinchtown” needed massive transfusions to help save his life following a serious crash during 2015 Indy 500 practice.
Hinchcliffe teamed with the American Red Cross to talk about the “Missing Types” campaign.
No, it’s not a typo. My name is missing some letters. The @RedCross is missing A, B & O blood reserves & I’m helping fill the gaps. Schedule your blood donation to help fill the #MissingType at https://t.co/FZFsUVDdDY pic.twitter.com/CqQh95ISCU

#RelationshipGoals
A man of the people, 2016 Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi recently tried to help a race fan through some important relationship questions. Like, is she more inclined to join #TeamJN for reigning champion Josef Newgarden or #TeamAR for Rossi? Good looking out, Alex.
I mean what can we do to make it a done deal? https://t.co/USRgYYeGbI

An open(-wheel) invitation, Fernando
Social media was abuzz when special guests from Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso’s team, McLaren, visited the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear and confirmed they were researching the possibility of entering the Verizon IndyCar Series next season.
It just fueled the fire on rumors that Alonso may want to drive an Indy car again following his sensational effort in the 2017 Indianapolis 500. Graham Rahal made sure the topic stayed top of mind for everyone this week, and the replies to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing ace were even more intriguing.
Hey @alo_oficial, @indycar is calling your name. We would welcome your competitive spirit and insane driving talent. Come RACE with us! See you in 2019. 💪🏻🔥🏁
