With a rare weekend off for the Harding Racing group, driver Gabby Chaves decided to try his hand at being a fueler. It didn’t go horribly, but maybe Gabby should stick to driving the No. 88 Harding Group Chevrolet.

St. Louis businessman John Bommarito, whose auto conglomerate sponsors the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park, recently announced that he would close all his stores to allow employees to attend the race on Aug. 25. Best boss ever!

‘Mayor’ takes platform worldwide to donate blood

Thursday is World Blood Donor Day. Verizon IndyCar Series driver James Hinchcliffe will appear live on “Megyn Kelly TODAY” (@MegynTODAY) in the 9 a.m. hour on Thursday, encouraging everyone who can to donate. The initiative is close to Hinchcliffe’s heart – pun intended – since the “Mayor of Hinchtown” needed massive transfusions to help save his life following a serious crash during 2015 Indy 500 practice.

Hinchcliffe teamed with the American Red Cross to talk about the “Missing Types” campaign.

An open(-wheel) invitation, Fernando

Social media was abuzz when special guests from Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso’s team, McLaren, visited the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear and confirmed they were researching the possibility of entering the Verizon IndyCar Series next season.

It just fueled the fire on rumors that Alonso may want to drive an Indy car again following his sensational effort in the 2017 Indianapolis 500. Graham Rahal made sure the topic stayed top of mind for everyone this week, and the replies to the Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing ace were even more intriguing.
