INDYCAR Fast Six: What's Trending In @INDYCAR
JUN 06, 2018
INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.
Planes, trains, automobiles and water bottles
The Indianapolis 500 winner’s celebratory drink of milk is the traditional end to “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” For the winner, though, it’s only the beginning of a swirl of parties, interviews and travel. Here’s a peek behind the scenes during Will Power’s champion’s tour. This IndyCar.com video is particularly cool because it’s narrated by Power in the days following his win, as the realization of the achievement sinks in.
Via Instagram this week, Power also showed us a few unique Indy 500 winner’s souvenirs: the four mangled water bottles his wife, Liz, squeezed and chewed on to calm her nerves during the race. Suppose they’d sell if he signs them?

If you’re missing May, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver James Hinchcliffe and Andretti Autosport driver Alexander Rossi, the 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner, are offering a rewind. Their live Miller Lite Carb Day podcast of “Off Track with Hinch and Rossi,” recorded this year with syndicated talk radio hosts Bob and Tom, is available to transport you right back to Indy 500 week.
Indy fans are the best! This @AskOffTrack live show at Carb Day was a blast, but if you weren’t able to make it there last week, don’t worry, you can listen to it now! Thanks @bobandtom, @ConorDaly22 and @simonpagenaud for coming on! https://t.co/GXKTrHVjmb

He’s baaaaack
Speaking of Hinchcliffe, the INDYCAR paddock and fans were thrilled to see his return to the season last weekend at the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. As Hinch headed back on track, we learned that he made it through his bump day debacle at the Indianapolis 500 with a little help from his friends, namely Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck.
Instead of participating in the Indianapolis 500 parade, James Hinchcliffe sat by his pool. https://t.co/0wq6qrfDS7

Ride of a lifetime
National sports talk personality Trey Wingo got the thrill ride of a lifetime during prerace festivities Sunday in Detroit. Wingo, one half of ESPN’s “Golic and Wingo” radio show, was Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s passenger in the Honda Fastest Seat in Sports and seemed to enjoy every second of his quick trip.
That's @wingoz 💪 loving the @Honda two-seater ride around ⛲ Belle Isle with @ariejr!

Match of (almost) a lifetime
INDYCAR charitable partner Serious Fun Children’s Network was the big winner last week in Detroit when reigning INDYCAR champ Josef Newgarden and his childhood schoolmate, Lions wide receiver Golden Tate, had a table tennis battle. Seems the pros used to play when they were kids in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Newgarden thought his visit to the Motor City last weekend was the perfect time for a rematch.
Of course, a wager was made and Newgarden walked away with $2,500 to the charity of his choice – Serious Fun.
This looks to be serious fun, too.
OK, @josefnewgarden has got some game! Is @ShowtimeTate in trouble?#DetroitGP pic.twitter.com/iqfPDXbSTb

Mickey Mouse Club
Looks like Chip Ganassi Racing driver Scott Dixon is taking on the proverbial knight-in-shining-armor role this week as he vacations with his wife, Emma, and daughters, Poppy and Tilly, at Walt Disney World in Florida.
