INDYCAR Fast Six: What's trending in @INDYCAR from March 1-7
MAR 08, 2017
INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence into tweets, Instagrams and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
Horsepower
Three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Helio Castroneves is unquestionably an expert on horsepower. But he learned more about horsepower this week while promoting the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil at the Kentucky Derby Museum with Indianapolis Motor Speedway President Doug Boles.
The evidence:
Time to go racing
But before they can get to Indianapolis, Verizon IndyCar Series drivers have four cities to race through – St. Petersburg, Long Beach, Birmingham and Phoenix. They’re more than ready, according to social media posts about this Sunday’s season kickoff, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg.
Even in a suit and tie in Denmark, Charlie Kimball anticipated the green flag:
Swapped a firesuit for a business suit today, but #IndyCar is still on my mind! https://t.co/Dxsyu5C8hA

James Hinchcliffe was thinking ahead, too.

Getting off track
The celebration around the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is happening all over town, but there will be no party more unique than the one Thursday night in Susie Wheldon’s new clothing boutique, Verve. Drivers and dedicated followers of fashion alike are abuzz over Wheldon’s store opening, which will include her late husband’s Indianapolis 500-winning car and the Borg-Warner Trophy on display in the store.
Excited to be a part of this event that Susie is putting on. Come check out her new store this Thursday! https://t.co/fEsnm4KbAZ

If you want to see @josefnewgarden @scottdixon9 and yes, @MarcoAndretti and I working a catwalk, you should probably be there. https://t.co/wqpLt2fLlv

In the money
Thanks to Ryan and Beccy Hunter-Reay’s son, Ryden, it looks like Marco Andretti is going to have some extra money to spend over race weekend. We don’t know what this is about, but it’s pretty cute.
😂 2 cute to not post. @ryanhunterreay @beccygordon @ Nazareth, Pennsylvania https://t.co/R7iadIo74u

Detour
On his way to St. Petersburg, Alexander Rossi stopped off in New York and dropped in on Harry Connick Jr. and his newish talk show, “Harry.” We’ll have to wait for Rossi’s episode to air on March 16 to see what happened, but it looks like he came away with some swag.
Next stop #HarryTV. Maybe some racin' with @HarryConnickJR pic.twitter.com/cmHioWgQ0J
