INDYCAR Fast Six: What's trending in @INDYCAR from Feb. 22-28
MAR 01, 2017
INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence into tweets, Instagram posts and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
Life in the fast lane
Racing icon Mario Andretti and his twin brother, Aldo, celebrated their 77th birthdays Tuesday and social media was abuzz with well-wishes. Despite their legendary rivalry, A.J. Foyt sent greetings that were among Mario’s favorite. This sweet message proves time heals all wounds, even those between the most competitive of Indy car drivers.
Thanks for all the birthday wishes. Unless the Pope calls tonight, the best call I got was from AJ Foyt, my sentimental BFF @AJFoytRacing

Role reversal
Mario got something of an early birthday party last weekend when he returned to the Daytona 500, 50 years after his victory there. And when he wondered publicly (on Twitter) about jumping in a race car, Andretti Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian driver and 2017 Indianapolis 500 winner Alexander Rossi volunteered his services.
If you get a ride, I'll drive down and spot. #CarSomewhere https://t.co/PmBiPly1bW

Racing dreams do come true
New AJ Foyt Racing driver Conor Daly’s dreams come true every day as he readies himself to race for his childhood hero. Just look at his smile in this photo, snapped on Foyt’s plane with “Super Tex” himself and teammate Carlos Munoz.
I think I'll save this photo in a scrapbook. Never in my life would I have thought I'd end up on AJ Foyt's plane. Thanks boss! #4time pic.twitter.com/VC8t2RSfDq

A little help from (French) friends
Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud is also preparing for the start of the season March 10-12 at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. From the looks of his Twitter feed, the Team Penske hot shoe has enlisted the help of his training coach, who came all the way from France for a few final workouts.
My coach came from #france to help w/ my final training push before @GPSTPETE! Smiling through the pain! #indycar pic.twitter.com/s4ffZ0AaZo

Two of a kind
Seems Max Chilton and his Chip Ganassi Racing driving coach, Dario Franchitti, have found lots to bond over, including their car collections. Reading Chilton’s Twitter feed, we learned more about that and a new vocabulary word. Seems an “anorak” isn’t only a word for a nice piece of high-quality outerwear. It’s also British slang for someone who is obsessed with a particular hobby, like trainspotting or – in the cases of Franchitti and Chilton – perfect, classic cars.
I always knew @dariofranchitti was a car anorak but he didn't have to point it out by getting on the floor & wearing an anorak!

Just breakin’
He’s all business on the track, but when Tony Kanaan takes time off to hang out with his children, we get to see his silly side. Consider this Twitter post with son Deco evidence:
Só no rap..... Rapping today. 😜😜😜 pic.twitter.com/gOQr3THjdm
