INDYCAR’s “Fast Six” is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence into tweets, Instagrams and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
YOU SAY IT'S YOUR BIRTHDAY
It doesn’t look like James Hinchcliffe did much dancing on his 30th birthday on Dec. 5. From the looks of the social media posts of his girlfriend, Rebecca Dalton, he spent more time pondering the next decade of his life during an eating, drinking and relaxing party.
The popular driver also got a deluge of well-wishes from fans, fellow drivers and friends. Who knew Hinch is a former blonde? We didn’t until we saw this adorable snap of 6-year-old James, posted by @hinchontrack.
Dalton, who was Hinchcliffe’s date to his high school prom in Oakville, Ontario, reminded him of that auspicious date and showed us what teenage James looked like.
Marco Andretti went for a more, albeit slightly risqué, modern birthday greeting.
ROCKING RACERS
With the offseason in full swing, drivers are posting vacation and holiday snaps. While at home in Indianapolis, they are concert goers.
Charlie Kimball and, his wife, Kathleen, caught a Jimmy Eat World show at the Murat Theatre in Indianapolis, Instagram showed us.
From his Twitter post, we can’t tell whether Conor Daly – a well-known EDM and Indy 500 Snake Pit fan – made it to Marshmello’s show at Old National Centre or the Chainsmokers at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis. But he was proud of the city for having them and said so on Twitter.
PINK (CHRISTMAS) CADILLAC
Meanwhile, this week in Boulder, Colo., JR Hildebrand was picking up his Christmas tree in “Rosie,” the coolest Caddy to ever have a Douglas fir strapped to its roof.
WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS
Alexander Rossi apparently didn’t get the same lessons most people do when they visit Sin City. Instead, his were about Scott Dixon’s sudoku abilities and more. We can’t wait for the video evidence.
As the motorsports community digested the news of Nico Rosberg’s retirement from Formula One right after winning his first world title, Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud apparently went shopping with girlfriend Hailey McDermott and combined the two in a tweet. We have absolutely no idea what it all means, but it’s cute.
ONE IN A MINION CHANCE
THE LIFE OF MARCO
We mentioned this a few posts ago, but we’ll do it again: It’s good to be Marco Andretti. More proof of that lives on actor Larenz Tate’s Twitter stream.
