For the most part, Verizon IndyCar Series drivers maintain a strict diet and workout regimen.
But even these world-class athletes have their weaknesses when it comes to not-so-healthy food. A number of drivers were recently asked to reveal their favorite snack food.
Here are their answers:
Mikhail Aleshin, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports: “Sometimes I cannot hold myself from eating bad food. I don’t have anything special. If I eat it sometimes, I’ll have a hot dog.”
Marco Andretti, Andretti Autosport: “Chips. Can’t help it, man. I can, but if I’m going to cheat, that’s what I’ll do.”
Townsend Bell, Andretti Autosport: “I love ice cream. Ice cream rocks.”
Matt Brabham, PIRTEK Team Murray: “I’m not big into sweets. Lemon bars.”
Gabby Chaves, Dale Coyne Racing: “I definitely eat a lot of cookies. Just chocolate chip. No particular brand or style. If it’s a cookie, I’m eating it.”
Bryan Clauson, Dale Coyne/Jonathan Byrd’s Racing: “I like oatmeal raisin cookies. I don’t know if it’s that bad for me.”
Scott Dixon, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams: “Chocolate.”
Jack Hawksworth, A.J. Foyt Enterprises: “Chocolate almonds.”
Ryan Hunter-Reay, Andretti Autosport: “I love chips, but I can’t eat ‘em. I like salt and vinegar, the spicier ones.”
Charlie Kimball, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams: “My wife makes the best chocolate chip cookie of all time. It’s amazing. My favorite dessert of all time is my grandmother’s cream puffs and my other grandmother’s chocolate sauce. My mom married my dad for this chocolate sauce recipe. You match the chocolate sauce with those cream puffs and it’s like a birthday-once-every-couple-years treat.”
Carlos Munoz, Andretti Autosport: “After the race, I love to eat pizzas or burgers. I’m not a sweets guy. I’ll eat pizza, burgers or fries.”
Graham Rahal, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing: “I’ve got a sweet tooth. Anything sweet. I’ve got a bad sweet tooth. I’d say ice cream over anything.”
Alexander Rossi, Andretti Herta Autosport with Curb-Agajanian: “Cheetos or Doritos, anything that is chips. I have a bit of self-control with candy and stuff, but when it comes to chips, no way.”
Takuma Sato, A.J. Foyt Enterprises: “Chocolate chip cookies. And I always have ice cream in the garage.”
Alex Tagliani, A.J. Foyt Enterprises: “My cookie, ‘Tag on the Go’ oatmeal cookies. Peanut-free.”
Stefan Wilson, KV Racing Technology: “Ice cream. That’s my weak link. That’s my Achilles heel.”
