Verizon IndyCar Series drivers fanned out across North America today to spread the word for the few who haven't heard that the historic 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil takes place Sunday.
From New York City to Phoenix, Toronto to Dallas and Miami to Milwaukee, all 33 starters in this year's field were on the move today for the annual Indy 500 multi-city media tour. Among the notable cities and events scheduled today are:
Indianapolis 500 pole sitter James Hinchcliffe, 2014 Indy 500 winner Ryan Hunter-Reay, two-time Verizon IndyCar Series race winner Marco Andretti and Andretti Autosport's Townsend Bell heading to the Big Apple. They were seen driving a street-legal two-seat Indy car on the streets of Manhattan and will later take photos with some historic Indy cars using the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop.
Tony Kanaan, the 2013 Indianapolis 500 winner, is making the rounds at ESPN in Bristol, Connecticut, including stops on "SportsCenter." ESPN produces the Indianapolis 500 race broadcast that will air on ABC beginning at 11 a.m. ET Sunday.
Three-time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves will throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Chicago tonight before the White Sox take on the Cleveland Indians. Likewise, JR Hildebrand will do the same in St. Louis before the Cardinals take on the rival Chicago Cubs in an ESPN game.
