Indianapolis Motor Speedway will light up Saturday night as 3,000 partygoers celebrate the third year of Rev presented by Fifth Third Bank, the popular dining and music event that kicks off month of May festivities and is expected to net more than $500,000 for Indiana University Heath statewide trauma programs, including those at the IU Health Emergency Medical Center on IMS grounds.

Verizon IndyCar Series drivers who will race in the Angie’s List Grand Prix of Indianapolis on May 14 and the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil on May 29 will attend, mingle with guests and take in the strolling food and music event, which involves six bands, seven DJs and 65 restaurants.

James Hinchcliffe is this year’s honorary chair, an appropriate choice since it was at IU Health Methodist Hospital a year ago where the Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver received urgent critical care that helped save his life after a crash in Indianapolis 500 practice led to a severed artery in his thigh.

"It really is a thrill for me to be partnering with Rev this year," Hinchcliffe said. "I can't believe how it has grown into a must-attend event in just two years! Obviously, the cause is one that's close to all drivers, but especially for me after the year I had.”

Hinchcliffe follows fellow drivers Simon Pagenaud and Scott Dixon as honorary chair of the event. Rev’s other leaders this year are Indianapolis community volunteer Julie Davis and restaurateur and former Indianapolis Colts linebacker Gary Brackett.

New to the event this year is Rev Radio. Former “Bob & Tom Show” personality Kristi Lee and Indianapolis Colts long snapper Matt Overton will broadcast in Pagoda Plaza from the red carpet, interviewing drivers and other VIPs as they arrive.

“I think Matt Overton and I can bring a little bit more of a twist to the traditional red carpet,” Lee said. “Matt and I will be able to give you a real feeling for what we’re doing and why we’re there.”

The sold-out night will end with dancing on the frontstretch of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s famed racetrack, where the Angie’s List Grand Prix will be run in a week and the historic 100th Indianapolis 500 will follow two weeks later.
