Kanaan shows off his prize as guest on 'Letterman'
JUN 04, 2013
Indianapolis 500 Mile Race champion Tony Kanaan spurred host David Letterman to touch the Borg-Warner Trophy during a June 3 guest appearance on "The Late Show with David Letterman."
No gloved handlers around, why not? Dozens of fingerprints on the sterling silver emblem of racing accomplishment later, both appeared quite pleased. Letterman also is co-owner of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, which won the 2004 Indy 500 with Buddy Rice.
Kanaan, who claimed his first victory in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing" on May 26 in his 12th start, competed in the inaugural IZOD IndyCar Series doubleheader -- the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans -- this past weekend at Belle Isle.
He'll drive in the Firestone 550 at Texas Motor Speedway on June 8, which will be broadcast by ABC at 8:30 p.m. (ET). Next week, Kanaan is a scheduled on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson." Check local listings.
