No. 78 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet

Juncos Hollinger Racing (JHR) announced Aug. 7 it is mutually parting company with driver Agustin Canapino, effective immediately.

Canapino, 34, jumped from winning multiple touring car championships in his native Argentina to the NTT INDYCAR SERIES with JHR in 2023. He finished 21st in the standings as a rookie, with a best finish of 12th.

This season, Canapino competed in 11 of 12 races for JHR, with a best finish of 12th on the streets of Detroit. He also placed 10th in the non-points exhibition event at The Thermal Club in March.

Canapino stepped out of his No. 78 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet at the XPEL Grand Prix of Road America presented by AMR on June 7-9 in the aftermath of online abuse directed toward Theo Pourchaire of Arrow McLaren after he made contact with Canapino’s car June 7 during the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear. Nolan Siegel, now with Arrow McLaren, replaced Canapino at Road America.

“We would like to express our sincere thanks to Agustín for making the jump to one of the fastest and most competitive categories in the world, trusting in JHR and everything this series represents,” a team statement said. “Both Agustín and the team have worked hard to learn, grow and achieve success during their time with JHR, and we are extremely proud of what we have achieved together. We wish him the best in his racing career and hope to meet again in future projects.”

No replacement was named for JHR’s No. 78 Chevrolet. The next event is the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline on Saturday, Aug. 17 at World Wide Technology Raceway near St. Louis.
