Legendary Musician To Ride in Fastest Seat in Sports with Castroneves
Legendary musician Jon Bon Jovi will be a special guest of Meyer Shank Racing and SiriusXM at the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season opener, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding on March 9-10, with a variety of activities that include a ride from a fellow legend in the Fastest Seat in Sports.
Four-time Indianapolis 500 winner and MSR minority partner Helio Castroneves will drive Grammy Award-winning Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Bon Jovi in the Fastest Seat in Sports, a high-speed thrill ride around the 1.8-mile temporary street circuit that will lead the starting field to the green flag for the first race of the 2024 season.
In collaboration with MSR’s co-primary sponsor, SiriusXM, Bon Jovi’s SiriusXM channel, Bon Jovi Radio, will be featured on the side pod of Felix Rosenqvist’s No. 60 AutoNation/SiriusXM Honda for both the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and the $1 Million Challenge on Sunday, March 24 at The Thermal Club. Bon Jovi and Castroneves will wear custom Bon Jovi Radio fire suits for their Fastest Seat in Sports ride at St. Petersburg.
“SiriusXM has an amazing network of talent, and it is so cool to get to collaborate with them for programs like this with Bon Jovi,” MSR co-owner Jim Meyer said. “It’s best of both worlds for everyone, with these artists getting exposed to INDYCAR in a big way while also helping to raise the profile of these events with their fan bases. Not only that, but we have been able to adapt our liveries to showcase each of these artist’s own SiriusXM channels.
“Having Jon Bon Jovi here in St. Pete is great exposure for SiriusXM and for the series, as well. We’re really hoping that this is just the start of what we can do with SiriusXM for this season.”
“Jon is set for an electrifying and sensational experience in the Fastest Seat in Sports as he welcomes a global audience to the new NTT INDYCAR SERIES season,” Penske Entertainment Corp. President and CEO Mark Miles said. “This is a terrific collaboration between SiriusXM and Meyer Shank Racing and an example of partnership activation that shines a spotlight across the whole sport.”
The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding starts at noon ET Sunday, March 10, with live television/streaming coverage on NBC and Peacock. As the Official Satellite Radio Partner of INDYCAR, SiriusXM will air live race coverage on the SiriusXM INDYCAR Nation channel, available to listeners in their cars (channel 218) and on the SiriusXM app.
