2023 INDY NXT by Firestone Rookie of the Year Nolan Siegel will stay with HMD Motorsports for the 2024 season, the team announced Oct. 10.
Siegel, from Palo Alto, California, finished third in the 2023 standings with two victories, five podium finishes and 67 laps led. His wins came at Detroit and Road America.
“I am anxious and excited to get back to work with HMD Motorsports,” Siegel said. “My rookie year was a good one, and we set out to do what we wanted to do, but now I am fully focused on the championship. I will have the same engineer and same crew this season, providing consistency that will hopefully help in a championship run.”
Siegel, 18, also has enjoyed success in sports car racing. He was part of the winning team in the Pro-Am class of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS series Oct. 7 at the Indianapolis 8 Hour event on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course.
“Nolan is a great talent and has a bright future in motorsports,” HMD Motorsports General Manager Mike Maurini said. “He has proven this by not only winning in INDY NXT but topping the podium in different racing platforms around the world. We look forward to watching his continued growth and helping him reach his goals of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.”
Siegel joins Myles Rowe, Reece Gold and Christian Bogle as announced drivers next season for HMD.
HMD Motorsports has fielded cars for the last two champions in INDYCAR’s development series, Linus Lundqvist in 2022 and Christian Rasmussen in 2023. Lundqvist has landed a full-time ride with Chip Ganassi Racing for the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season. HMD also was the INDY NXT by Firestone home for full-time 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers David Malukas, Benjamin Pedersen and Kyffin Simpson.
