After competing for a partial season with HMD Motorsports, Reece Gold will return to the team for the full 2024 INDY NXT by Firestone season.
Gold will return to the No. 10 entry in 2024 with continued backing and support from The Ticket Clinic. In USF Pro 2000, Gold earned one win and seven podiums in 2021 before going on to claim four wins and seven podiums the following year to finish second in the championship. Looking to mimic his USF Pro 2000 trajectory, Gold hopes to be a championship contender in his second year of INDY NXT by Firestone.
“HMD Motorsports is an incredible program, and I feel very at home with the team,” Gold said. “I have a great support team around me, and they have helped me elevate my game to the next level. I look forward to the 2024 season and to being able to challenge for more podiums, race wins and the INDY NXT championship.”
Gold, from Miami, joined HMD starting with the third race of the season, in May on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, after competing in the first two races of 2023 with Juncos Hollinger Racing. Gold earned his first INDY NXT by Firestone victory in early June with HMD in the first race of the doubleheader weekend on the Streets of Detroit.
He also earned one more podium with HMD in 2023, in August on the IMS road course.
“Reece really came into his own as the season went on,” HMD Motorsports General Manager Mike Maurini said. “I have known him from the early years of karting, and he is a young talent capable of winning at every level. We look forward to sharing success with Reece again in 2024.”
Gold, 19, recently graduated from high school and will take undergraduate college courses while racing.
Two-time defending series champion HMD is still finalizing its lineup for next season, but Gold joins 2023 USF Pro 2000 champion Myles Rowe as confirmed drivers with the team for 2024.
