Ed Carpenter and Scott Dixon are looking to add another Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge pole to their respective collections after leading practice this morning with laps faster than 234 mph -- the quickest trips around the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway since 1996.
Three-time "500" polesitter Carpenter led at 234.410 mph in the No. 33 Alzamend Neuro Chevrolet, with four-time Indy 500 pole winner Dixon second at 234.093 in the No. 9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.

Seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson continued his impressive rookie performance in "The Greatest Spectacle in Racing," ending up third at 233.961 in the No. 48 Carvana Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Alex Palou was the third Chip Ganassi Racing driver in the top five, clocking in fourth at 233.734 in the No. 10 NTT DATA Chip Ganassi Racing Honda.
Rookie Callum Ilott rounded out the top five at 233.308 in the No. 77 Juncos Hollinger Racing Chevrolet.
Twenty-two of the 23 drivers who turned laps in the one-hour session topped 230 mph.
