Veteran Santino Ferrucci will return to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing this weekend, driving the No. 45 Hy-Vee Honda at The Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio presented by HPD Ridgeline on July 2-4 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
This will be Ferrucci’s fourth start with the team this season, all in Hy-Vee colors. He drove to his third straight top-seven finish in the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge by placing sixth and was sixth in Race 1 and 10th in Race 2 of the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit on June 12-13.
Hy-Vee, Inc. – an employee-owned supermarket chain that operates more than 280 retail stores across eight Midwestern states – also is the primary sponsor of Graham Rahal’s entry for two races this season and is a full season associate.
“I’m super excited to return to Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing to race the Hy-Vee entry at Mid-Ohio,” Ferrucci said. “It’s been a great track for me in the past, and last year I started on the front row. I’ve always enjoyed the track and its fans.
“I cannot wait to be working with the team again and continuing our relationship and our growth as the season moves forward. Hopefully we can get the Hy-Vee car into the top five and on the podium.”
Connecticut native Ferrucci’s best INDYCAR SERIES qualifying effort came for Race 2 in 2020 at Mid-Ohio, as he started second.
After two full INDYCAR SERIES seasons, in 2019-2020, and a partial one in 2018, Ferrucci joined RLL for the Indy 500 and the two Detroit races. He also is competing part time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving for Sam Hunt Racing.
Practice at Mid-Ohio starts at 2:30 p.m. (ET) Friday, with live coverage on Peacock. Saturday’s action includes practice at 9:05 a.m. (live on Peacock), NTT P1 Award qualifying at noon (live on Peacock, 11 p.m. Saturday on NBCSN) and final practice at 3:30 p.m.
