Fast Six: What's trending in INDYCAR
MAR 06, 2019
INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about NTT IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.
So … whatcha doin’ this weekend?!
It appears the NTT IndyCar Series community has been getting pretty amped up on social media for this weekend. Any ideas on why that might be? Anyone?
Sooooooooo...race fans. Who’s ready for next weekend? 🙋🏻♂️

You know who else is looking forward to waving the green flag this weekend? This former Indianapolis resident:
I’m really fired up for this Sunday. My family and I are looking forward to the festivities and to seeing some of the drivers and race teams we got to know in Indianapolis. https://t.co/WIKBRqqzHy

Pregame fun
Before things heat up in Florida for INDYCAR, Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden had a cool opportunity to take in the Nashville Predators NHL home game up close and personal, thanks to NTT IndyCar Series broadcast partner NBCSN. Newgarden made sure to thank his hosts for the invitation with an appropriate gift for broadcaster Pierre McGuire, who had a close call a few weeks ago with a speeding puck.

Sounds like everyone is ready to (rock n’) roll!
The 2019 NTT IndyCar Series season revs up this weekend with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, and no one can wait to hear the sounds of engines firing up and watch the fierce battles on track. Until that happens, however, we were gifted these sounds and a competition of a different kind.
"I'm not great with songs and names and stuff but, I have a great time!"

It's time to play 'Name That Song' with #FirestoneGP and @simonpagenaud, @RyanHunterReay, @SpencerPigot, @Edjonesracing and @ConorDaly22 pic.twitter.com/29csIhoj1K
Fierce competition
From sour notes to sour candies, the competition has been fierce amongst drivers away from the track this offseason. As this video from our friends at NBC demonstrates clearly, it is really time to get the drivers back on track where they belong.
Everything's a competition with these guys. 🤣@IndyCar's best were put to the test to fit as many sour candies in their mouths. The real racing begins this Sunday at 1:30PM ET on @NBCSN. #INDYCAR pic.twitter.com/Q4ws4gvL9s

Practice makes perfect
While those last two social media posts clearly demonstrate that drivers are itching to get back on track for some real competition, teams like Carlin didn’t sit idle this past week – using every last chance to get into game shape before the green flag drops on the 2019 season.
See you soon!
Guess who else will be at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg?!
I’m coming to St. Petersburg!! I can’t wait to be back in the @indycar paddock. I’ll be doing a meet and greet Sunday at 10am at the firestone display in the fan village, as well as the indycar autograph session Friday at 12:30. I look forward to seeing everyone around the track! pic.twitter.com/chhS5n10hQ
