Alexander Rossi and James Hinchcliffe

With the start of the 2018 Verizon IndyCar Series season comes a fresh new podcast from two of its most popular drivers.

“Off Track with Hinch and Rossi,” a weekly podcast hosted by Schmidt Peterson Motorsports driver James Hinchcliffe and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, debuts March 22. Described as a fusion between sports, current events and popular culture, the show will provide a glimpse into the daily lives of the drivers and a platform for their various opinions on a variety of topics.

Off Track with Hinch and RossiHinchcliffe, a five-time race winner in the Verizon IndyCar Series, and 2016 Indianapolis 500 winner Rossi, who also won the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen last year, will invite celebrities, athletes and others with interesting success stories to be guests on the show. Among the first are New York Times bestselling author and well-known INDYCAR fan John Green, former Indianapolis Colts Pro Bowl punter Pat McAfee, who retired from the NFL to become a comedian, and retired NASCAR and Indy car driving great Tony Stewart.

“It’s about passionate people pushing themselves and achieving an exceptional level in anything,” said Hinchcliffe. “You’ll see a lot of everything.”

Something else “Off Track” listeners will get used to is hearing Hinchcliffe and Rossi argue.

“Alex and I have a lot of different opinions on a lot of things, so we argue and debate,” Hinchcliffe said. “We’ll also give people a look at what it’s like to do what we do.”

Most of the podcast’s episodes will be recorded between the races of the 2018 season, so there will be plenty of racing talk.

“At the end of the day, we are two racers,” Hinchcliffe said, adding it’s unusual for two professional athletes who are actively competing to also host a podcast.

Like “The Mayor on Air,” Hinchcliffe’s podcast from the past two years being replaced with “Off Track,” Hinchcliffe and Rossi hope to broaden INDYCAR’s audience by informing listeners about themselves and their lives.

“As soon as you know someone involved in Indy car racing, people really get addicted to it,” Hinchcliffe said. “It’s such a fascinating sport, especially when you have someone to follow.”

Fans of “The Mayor on Air” will enjoy “Off Track” because it is an evolution of the old show, which Hinchcliffe started with a friend, a microphone and a laptop. “Off Track with Hinch and Rossi” is the first original production from CastBox, a podcast app available on iOS and Android platforms with more than 15 million users worldwide. It will be distributed across podcast platforms, beginning March 22.

“Now, with CastBox, it’s a full-blown production,” Hinchcliffe said.
