Young Brazilian Kohl latest to join USF2000 lineup

Brazilian racer Lucas Kohl will join John Cummiskey Racing for the 2016 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season, officials announced Feb. 4.
Kohl, a protege of former Indy car competitor Roberto Moreno, will compete in the team's No. 34 car with backing from Bellko Trading.
“I’m very excited to work with John Cummiskey Racing, he is well known for his dedication to the Team and attention to every detail," Kohl said. "The team has Louis D,Agostino, a very dedicate and smart engineer who has helped in the past many youngster in their careers. Roberto Moreno, an experience F1 and Indy car driver will also be helping me to catch up with the knowledge that I will need in my first year of racing in the USA. I’m confident that together we will strive to perform at the top level and achieve good results in this very competitive Championship. I want to thank the team for the chance to race with them on the Mazda Road to Indy.”
In 2015, Kohl competed in karting in his native Brazil and has won a state Super Kart championship before racing in the National Brazilian Karting Championship. Kohl won the 2014 Formula Junior championship winning eight out of 16 races.

"We had a really good test with Lucas last season and we’re looking forward to seeing Lucas perform in the 34 JCR entry. With how competitive karting is in Brazil, it is great to have a champion join our team and the Mazda Road to Indy.”
