Ryan Hunter-Reay has soaked up all the spoils of being the 2014 Indianapolis 500 champion in recent months -- from seeing his bas-relief image on the Borg-Warner Trophy at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum to accepting his “Baby Borg” in Detroit.
He missed out on the latest perk of being a “500” winner March 5, but a hall pass was in order.
While the champion’s photo was unveiled on the 2015 Indianapolis 500 ticket during a 500 Festival Corporate Members event at the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in downtown Indianapolis, Hunter-Reay was more than 1,000 miles away at a South Florida hospital.
His second child, a boy, arrived earlier in the day.
