Notes: Team Pelfrey expands to USF2000
NOV 14, 2014
Team Pelfrey announced that it will field a three-car team in the 2015 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda season.
The move will augment the Florida-based team’s involvement in the Pro Mazda Championship Presented by Cooper Tires and the F1600 Championship Series. USF2000 is the first official step on the Mazda Road to Indy.
The 2015 USF2000 season is comprised of 16 races at eight venues plus a six-race preseason Cooper Tires Winterfest series in February at NOLA Motorsports Park and Barber Motorsports Park.
“These are exciting times at Team Pelfrey as we continue to expand the team along with our Mazda Road to Indy presence,” said Team Pelfrey’s Nigel Tuckey. “We are all about providing quality, all-encompassing development programs for young drivers at Team Pelfrey so the Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda is a logical addition and ‘fills the gap’ between our other programs perfectly. Having the ability to provide a seamless transition from karts to Pro Mazda for our drivers has the whole Pelfrey crew highly motivated for continued success.”
Casting call for Road to Indy TV
Andersen Promotions is seeking a co-host for its RoadToIndy.TV program that debuted this year. The web initiative comprises streaming bi-weekly episodes throughout the racing season that focus on the behind-the-scenes stories of drivers and teams on their way up the Mazda Road to Indy ladder.
The winner of the casting call will travel the full Mazda Road to Indy circuit in 2015 with all expenses paid. Auditions are through Dec. 19. Interested fans can enter by submitting a one-minute video about themselves to the RoadToIndy.TV Facebook page. Five finalists will be chosen and fan voting will decide the winner. Contestants must be between the ages of 18 and 25, live in the United States and be available for travel based on the 2015 race schedules. The winner will be announced Dec. 29.
Of note
All three levels of the Mazda Road to Indy will compete at St. Petersburg, Toronto and Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course through 2016 through a partnership agreement between Green Savoree Racing Promotions and Andersen Promotions.
