Scott Dixon is secure in himself not to feel slighted that Bullseye, the Target mascot, received a more raucous ovation March 7 when it walked into the gymnasium at Vestavia Hills Elementary School East in Alabama.

Dixon, and a much larger Bullseye than seen before, visited with about 600 students at the school. The two-time IZOD IndyCar Series champion relayed what it is like to drive a race car at 225 mph in addition to the importance of science, technology, engineering and math as part of school curriculum.

Dixon, driver of the No. 9 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car, will be among the more than two dozen drivers at Barber Motorsports Park on March 12-13 for an Open Test. The series returns to the 2.38-mile road course in Birmingham for the Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama on April 5-7. Dixon was runner-up to Team Penske's Will Power in the 2012 race.
