LOS ANGELES -- Team Helio will dance another week.

Although they earned a solid score of 23 of 30 from the three-judge panel for their Jive (sixth overall of 12 couples) on the Oct. 1 "Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars," Helio Castroneves and his professional dance partner, Chelsie Hightower, were put in unexpected danger of facing elimination after Week 2.

Fan voting comprises the other half of a couple's score, and the couple with the lowest total each week says goodbye.

Helio Castroneves and Chelsie Hightower - Week 2Evidently, more fan voting is needed if Castroneves is going to be the first two-time winner in the show's history. Singer Joey Fatone and his professional partner, Kym Johnson, were eliminated. With 18 points from the judges, reality TV personality Bristol Palin had the lowest score, but she apparently had enough viewer votes to keep her out of the bottom two.

Castroneves, who won Season 5 of the dance competition, said the experience was “not fun.”

“We didn’t understand what happened but we have to just keep hoping that the fans will stay behind us a little bit more so we can continue moving forward," the Team Penske driver said. "We have a lot to grow.”

Castroneves and Hightower upped their score from their Week 1 Foxtrot (21.5) with the uptempo Jive.

“This week, your body caught up to the charm that was going on in your face,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba said. "You’ve got style with a smile,” judge Len Goodman agreed.

Next week, the competition gets even more difficult. The stars will have creation control of their routines, and two will be eliminated Oct. 9.

Hightower said being in the bottom two is "a terrible place to be in. But it’s motivating."

"He performed his guts out. He did an amazing job and so at that point you just don’t really know what people want. Hopefully we will give a performance next week that people will love -- and love enough to go and vote for us and make sure we’re not in that position again.”
