LOS ANGELES -- Christian LeBlanc (Michael Baldwin on "The Young & the Restless"), castmate Daniel Goddard (who plays Cane Ashby) and Alex Tagliani (in his role as an IZOD IndyCar Series driver) are deep into an animated discussion about apexes and asphalt as the Astor Cup is placed on a coffee house set of the venerable CBS soap opera.
Many of the show's stars arrive for the afternoon's taping at Stage 43 at the cavernous CBS Television Center, each breaking out their mobile devices and clamoring to have their photo taken with the sterling silver trophy that gleams under the stage lights.
Yes, the Astor Cup has gone Hollywood.
For the past two days, it's been making the rounds in Hollywood -- from the stages of "Hell's Kitchen" to "The Jeff Probst Show" to "Entertainment Tonight" to ESPN Deportes and the headquarters of DreamWorks Animation, which just so happens to be producing an incredible feature film about a snail's dream to win the Indianapolis 500 (look for "Turbo" in theaters next July).
It even had an appointment with Dr. Phil (it's been a long and stressful IZOD IndyCar Series season).
On the Y&R sound stage, Goddard tweets "This is so freaking cool," as Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott) tweets a photo of him and the Astor Cup to his daughter.
"The other day she sent me a photo of her and the Stanley Cup, so I can say, 'How about me and THIS cup,' '' he says.
Note about the Y&R: The 10,000th episode was taped recently at Stage 43 -- where it has been since its start in 1973 -- and will air Sept. 27.
The trophy tour concluded, the Astor Cup will for the next few days reside at Auto Club Speedway an hour east of LA. Stop by and have your photo taken with it just like a bunch of celebs did this week. Tweet to @indycar #MAVTV500.
Then hang around following the MAVTV 500 INDYCAR World Championships at Auto Club Speedway on Sept. 15 to snap a photo of the IZOD IndyCar Series champion -- either Will Power or Ryan Hunter-Reay -- hoisting it in celebration.
